Lithological description

Clayey sands, coarsening upward into very fine-grained (105-150 µm), micaceous sands with a low glauconite content. Locally, a thin layer of flat rounded flint pebbles is found at the base. Calcareous fossils are scarce and the sands are locally lithified. The top of the sands shows an orange or purple staining, interpreted as the result of emergence and soil development.

Depositional setting
