Weiteveen Lower Marl Member

Code
SKWFC
Status
Formal (NAM & RGD 1980). Amended (Van Adrichem Boogaert & Kouwe 1993).
Lithological description

Blue-grey marly, locally anhydritic or pebbly claystone succession intercalated between the two evaporite members of the Weiteveen Formation.

Depositional setting

Floodplain to highly-restricted lacustrine basin-margin or marginal-marine sub-basin setting.

Definition of lower boundary

The higher clay content clearly distinguishes this member from the underlying evaporitic units. This can be seen on wireline logs: higher GR-, lower resisitivity- and sonic-log readings.

Definition of upper boundary

The higher clay content clearly distinguishes this member from the overlying evaporitic units. This can be seen on wireline logs: higher GR-, lower resisitivity- and sonic-log readings.
