Z5 (Ohre) Formation

Code
ZEZ5
Status
Formal (Van Adrichem Boogaert & Kouwe 1994).
Lithological description

Claystone and rock salt.

Depositional setting

Salina in the deepest parts of the basin, sabkha in the marginal parts (Geluk 2005; 2007; Geluk et al. 1997).

Definition of lower boundary

Placed at the base of the claystone underlying the rock salt. This claystone usually is the third claystone peak above the potassium-magnesium rich salt bed of the Z4 Salt Member.

Definition of upper boundary

Placed at the top of the rock salt and constitutes the contact with the Zechstein Upper Claystone Formation.
