Lithological description
Grey to white very fine to fine sand, coarsening upward, very well sorted, non-calcareous, locally micaceous, slightly glauconitic, cemented horizons.
Depositional setting
Shallow-marine (shallowing in the course of time) or near-coastal fluvial.
Definition of lower boundary
Gradual transition into shallow-marine fine sand (Delden Member, Breda Formation).
Definition of upper boundary
Sharp, unconformable contact with coarse Pleistocene fluvial deposits (Kiezeloolite, Waalre and Peize Formations).
Thickness indication
Up to about 25 m ( Van den Bosch et al. 1975; Van den Berg & Den Otter 1993).
Geographical distribution
Eastern and northeastern Netherlands. Northern limit unknown.
