Lithologische beschrijving
Intercalated layer of reddish-brown siltstone or silty claystone. Developed as a massive, light-coloured, arkosic sandstone in the western Netherlands offshore and the southern onshore. The high quartz content and quartz cementation of the sandstones is typical there. In the northern offshore, halite cementation occurs in the vicinity of Zechstein salt domes.
Afzettingsmilieu
Fluvial to eolian in the southern areas (Ames & Farfan 1996) and the Ems Low, and mainly eolian in the Dutch Central Graben (Fontaine et al. 1993).
