Lithological description

Massive clean sandstone. Where the sandstone is thickest, a well-correlatable shale layer occurs in the middle of the sand package.

Depositional setting

Aeolian. Shale layer accumulated in a lacustrine setting.

Definition of lower boundary

Sharp contact with underlying claystone.

Definition of upper boundary

Sharp contact with overlying red claystone.

Thickness indication
Extremely variable thickness: 5 - 165 m.

Only found in the Netherlands.
