Lithologische beschrijving
Basal, grey sandstone and overlying red claystone unit.
Afzettingsmilieu
Aeolian and braided-river deposits and lacustrine settings.
Definitie ondergrens
Defined by the Hardegsen Unconformity, the Solling Formation unconformably overlies the Main Buntsandstein Subgroup, or in areas of severe pre-Solling erosion, the Lower Buntsandstein Formation. The unconformity is usually marked by a well-cemented, basal sandstone, which shows a more pronounced response on wireline logs than the sandstones of the underlying Main Buntsandstein Subgroup.
Definitie bovengrens
Placed at the base of the Main Röt Evaporite Member. In the basin-fringe area, in the absence of the Main Röt Evaporite Member, this boundary may be difficult to identify.
