Generally developed as a massive body of relatively pure anhydrite.

Depositional setting

Sabkha anhydrite.

Definition of lower boundary

Boundary with the underlying Z2 Carbonate Member.

Definition of upper boundary

Boundary with the overlying Z2 Salt Member.

Thickness indication
Usually 5 to 10 m, in exceptional cases 15 m.

UK: Basalanhydrit Formation; GER: Unterer Stassfurt Anhydrit, Basalanhydrit; BEL: Z2 Basal Anhydrite Member.
