Grey to pale brown medium to very coarse sand, gravelly (including cobbles). Slightly glauconitic.

Depositional setting

Fluvioglacial (Lee et al. 2012) (easterly rivers sourced in central Germany).

Definition of lower boundary

Underlain by finer fluvial sand (Appelscha Formation).

Definition of upper boundary

Locally, sharp contact with fluvial clay and fine sand (Urk Formation). Elsewhere, more gradual transition into coarser fluvial sand (Urk Formation) or overlain by subglacial or ice-marginal sand (Peelo Formation).
