Geographical distribution
In the basin fringe area, in places where a sandy development prevails, it may be in some cases impossible to distinguish the Red-brown Salt Clay Member with certainty. In such cases this unit and the Z1 Fringe Sandstone Member may be lumped with the overlying Z2 Fringe Sandstone Member into an informal unit: the Zechstein Fringe sandstone member (ZEFRS).
