Status
Formal (Westerhoff & Weerts 2003; Busschers & Weerts 2003).
Lithologische beschrijving

Typically stiff reddish brown to grey clay, silty, locally fine sandy. Humic, non-calcareous, especially at the organic-rich top, which may be marked by a palaeosol. A similar deposit is found at the top of the Kreftenheye Formation (Rhine).

Afzettingsmilieu

Floodplain of a transitional braided to meandering river (Meuse; Törnqvist et al. 1994; Makaske & Nap 1995; Busschers 2008; Autin 2008).

Definitie ondergrens

Commonly sharp contact with fluvial channel sand (Beegden Formation).

Definitie bovengrens

Partly exposed at the surface. Gradual transition into softer fluvial clay (Echteld Formation). Sharp contact with aeolian river-dune sand (Delwijnen Member, Boxtel Formation).
